Fact Check on Reducing Costs

In an exchange with Senator Burr at the HELP Committee hearing on Exchanges, Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight head Steve Larsen just testified that the health care law will lower health care costs.  However, the Medicare actuary disagrees, noting that the health care law will RAISE costs by $310,800,000,000, and further admitting the promise that the health care law would lower costs was “false, more so than true.”  And the Congressional Budget Office noted that the law will RAISE the federal budgetary commitment to health care by $464 billion.
